ABOUT US

National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi founded in 1979 is an independent, non-partisan, non-governmental and professional organization representing nurses and midwives of Malawi.
Its goals are to safeguard nurses/midwives' professional, organizational union and social economic interests; and to influence nursing education and nursing practice, thereby serving the population of Malawi.
The organization confines its interests to nurses/midwives and the nursing/midwifery profession

OUR VISION

The vision of the organization is to have a strong, vibrant, and visionary organization that will result in a motivated and empowered nurse/midwife.
OUR GOAL
NONM's goals are to safeguard nurses and midwives' professional, organizational and socioeconomic interests and to influence nursing education and nursing practice, thereby serving the population of Malawi. The organization confines its interests to nurses and midwives and the nursing/midwifery professions.

OUR OBJECTIVES

The following are the objectives of the organization:
  • Promote and maintain the highest possible standards of nursing and midwifery services for the well-being of the population of Malawi;
  • Achieve progress for nursing and midwifery in Malawi in the areas of practice, management, education, research, ethics, socioeconomic
  • welfare, and safeguard the  historical heritage of the profession or any related matters;
  • Foster a spirit of unity and solidarity among members;
  • Safeguard and promote the dignity, rights and socioeconomic status of individual members, and of the nursing/midwifery professions;
  • Act as a liaison between the nursing/midwifery professions and the government, other non-governmental organizations and the public;
  • Provide advice or assistance to victimized members;
  • Serve as the authoritative voice for nurses and midwives in Malawi;
  • Promote equal access to health care for the population of Malawi.
