DEMOCRACY IN THE LEARNING AND CLINICAL AREA PRACTICE

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Funded by Norwegian Development Agency through the Norwegian Embassy and cordinated by the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) in Oslo and Lilongwe.

 
The Blantyre/Vestfold network project under the major project called Improved Health Training in Nursing Schools/Nursing Network which targets nurses and midwives, student nurses/midwives; had  in the year 2010 which is the beginning of second phase extended its activities to Central East and West Zones.

 
NORAD, the Norwegian Development Agency through the Norwegian Embassy continues to fund and coordination is by the Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) in Oslo and Lilongwe.

 
Main Project Objective
The core function in 2010 was to develop Nurses and Midwives into professional models that shall apply actual democratic values, attitudes, ideas actions and tools in the clinical areas of the profession for delivery of quality care to the population of Malawi.
The overall goal of the project is to make NONM a professionally competent, strong bold and sustainable national nurse’s organisation, serving the professional and socio-economic interests of nurses/midwives in Malawi, and through them providing quality health care to the population of MalawI.

Activities for the year included:

  • Workshops on Democracy in clinical area for Central East and West Zones;

  • Follow up on the implementation and or sharing of democratic values, attitudes and knowledge learnt among nurses and midwives and change progress both in the Central as well as Southern Regions.
